The Junior League of Milwaukee is proud to announce its Board of Directors for the 2019-2020 League Year.
Laura Hyland – President
Laura Hyland is President of the Junior League of Milwaukee. Laura has previously served as President-Elect, and chair of the Signature Project and Kids in the Kitchen committees. Laura joined JLM in 2012 after she and her husband, Jim moved from Arlington, Virginia. Outside of JLM, Laura works as a CPA at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants specializing in governmental accounting and auditing. She earned her BBA and MBA from the University of Wisconsin. In her free time, Laura enjoys traveling, reading, spending time outdoors and shuttling her 3 children to their activities.
Susie Allen – President Elect
Susie Allen is the President Elect. Susie has previously served on the board as the Director of Revenue in 2014-15 and 2015-16 and more recently as the Recording Secretary in 2018-2019. Susie became an Active in Junior League in 2009. She has served on the Signature Project Committee (2009-10 and 2010-11), Grand Garage Sale (Chair Elect 2011-12 and Chair 2012-13 and 2013-14). Susie also worked as the liaison for the with MCFI and worked with the special committee to identify a new fundraiser for JLM. She was excited to join JLM because of the amazing group of women who are committed to the Milwaukee community and the development of leadership skills. Susie is a partner with Stafford Rosenbaum LLP, practicing in product liability and warranty litigation. She lives in Waukesha and enjoys spending time with her amazing friends and two dogs, Val and Daisy.
Mollie Kugler – Recording Secretary
Mollie Kugler is the Recording Secretary. Mollie transferred to the Milwaukee League in 2014 to join her now husband, Nate, who came to Milwaukee for general surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Prior to that, Mollie was active for three years in the Junior League of Springfield, serving in a communications role and as Recording Secretary of their board. Since transferring, Mollie has served on the Spring Fundraiser Committee, as chair elect and chair of Donor Relations, and on the Nominating Committee. Mollie initially joined the League to expand her friend and professional networks, and for community service and leadership opportunities, and she has been thrilled with what the Junior League of Milwaukee has offered her in the 4.5 years since transferring. Mollie attended Georgetown University for college and Fordham University for law school. She now practices law at Hinshaw & Culbertson, primarily handling litigation defense and insurance coverage matters, and was recently named partner. She lives in Shorewood with Nate, their infant son, Griffin, and their Goldendoodle, Louie. In her spare time, Mollie enjoys running, tennis, travel, and trying new things in Milwaukee.
Kala Hill – Director of Operations
Kala Hill is the Director of Operations for the 2019-2020 year. Previously, she served as the Finance Committee Chair and a member of the Brew City Bash Committee. In a professional setting, Kala has spent her career in government, fundraising, and foundation roles that support policy and philanthropy. Originally hailing from Amarillo, Texas, Kala earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science at West Texas A&M University. While working in Washington, D.C. Kala earned her Master’s Degree in Political Management at George Washington University. Kala enjoys cooking, reading, and being outdoors. She used to be a runner, but now seems to be limited to running after her son.
Carolyn Lee – Director of Membership
Carolyn Lee is the incoming Director of Membership, for a 2 year term through 2021. Carolyn has jumped around the League since her first active year in 2012-2013, having served on the Communications, Kids in the Kitchen, Nominating, Board (Recording Secretary), and most recently Membership Engagement. She joined the JLM as a way to help make a positive lasting impact on her hometown, and to connect with other like-minded women. Carolyn works at Pentair in the pricing group, and holds a Bachelors degree in International Business and French from St. Norbert College. In her free time, she likes to play tennis, embark on home improvement projects, travel, and explore her East Side neighborhood.
Marita Stollenwerk – Director of Communications
Marita Stollenwerk continues as the Director of Communications during the 2019 / 2020 league year. Prior to her Director role, she served on the Grants Committee (Chair 2017/18, Chair Elect 2016/17), Website Committee (2015/16), and Done in a Day (2014/15, 2013/14, and 2012/2013). She joined the League during the 2011 /12 League Year as a way to become more engaged in her adopted City of Milwaukee and to meet ladies looking to make a difference. During the day, Marita works as a Senior Project Manager for an Environmental Consulting firm, specializing in commercial environmental due diligence and soil and groundwater contamination assessment / remediation. Marita’s passion is the cleanup and redevelopment of blighted, abandoned and contaminated properties as a way to stimulate neighborhood revitalization. She has a dual degree from Boston University in Environmental Science and Geology and is a registered professional geologist and licensed asbestos inspector. Outside of work and the League, Marita enjoys spending her mornings rowing on the Milwaukee River, and chasing her three kids around.
Paige Jorgensen – Director of Community
Paige Jorgensen is in her first year of her two-year term as Director of Community during the 2019-2020 year. Prior to this she served for two years on the Signature Project Committee, working with Aurora Health Care’s Safe Home Environment program. She also served on the committee to select Safe Home Environment as the JLM’s Centennial Partner and as a member of Holiday Boutique, now Milwaukee Merry Marketplace. Paige joined the League to reacquaint herself with Milwaukee after moving back for a job opportunity. Outside of the League, Paige works in fundraising for The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County. She has a bachelors degree from Marquette University in Public Relations and a Masters in Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Denver. Paige is a board member for the Planned Giving Council of Southeast Wisconsin and an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She resides in Brewers Hill with her husband and dog, Nellie, and enjoys cooking, hiking and trying new restaurants in the city.
Kathleen Keller – Director of Revenue
Kathleen Keller is entering her first year on the board as Director of Revenue. She joined the Junior League of Milwaukee in 2015 and has served on the Brew City Bash committee (Chair 2016/17 & 2017/2018, Chair Elect 2015/16) and Donor Relations committee (Chair Elect 2018/19).
Kathleen currently works at Alverno College in Special Events. Kathleen holds a M.B.A and Bachelor’s degree from Marquette University.
Jane Bartlett – Sustainer Chair-Elect
Jane served as the Junior League of Milwaukee President in 2003/2004, and served on the Board of Directors for several years prior to becoming President. She has been a member of the League since 1994. Jane is a CPA with a degree in accounting from Marquette University and currently works as the Director of Finance for Lumen Christi Catholic Church and School in Mequon. She has volunteered for numerous organizations including the American Cancer Society. Jane and her husband Jeffrey have 2 children in college. In her free time, Jane enjoys hiking, tennis and reading.
